It was a privilege to join more than 200 community members at Assiniboine Park for the third annual Khalsa Aid Manitoba Society Walk in support of local healthcare. Together, we celebrated the incredible power of community while raising an outstanding $35,000 for the Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation and the Victoria Hospital Foundation.
Despite the threat of rain, families, volunteers, community leaders and elected officials came together with one shared goal: supporting better healthcare for Manitobans. I was honoured to participate alongside MLAs JD Devgan, Jennifer Chen and Diljeet Brar, as well as representatives from both hospital foundations.
I was also pleased to contribute $2,500 toward this important initiative. Investing in our hospitals means investing in our families, our neighbours and the future health of our community.
I want to congratulate Khalsa Aid Manitoba Chapter Lead Varinder Ghuman and the many dedicated volunteers who made this event such a success. Their commitment to seva—selfless service—is an inspiring example of what can be accomplished when people come together to give back. Every volunteer, participant and donor helped make a meaningful difference.
One of the most touching moments of the day was the tribute to the late Premjit Kaur Brar, whose determination and courage inspired so many. Her legacy of resilience, generosity and community spirit will continue to motivate others for years to come.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the 5-kilometre and 10-kilometre walks, and to the volunteers who ensured the event ran smoothly from start to finish. It was especially wonderful to see people of all ages and backgrounds walking side by side in support of a healthier Manitoba.
Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered and participated. Your generosity will help provide much-needed medical equipment at Seven Oaks General Hospital and Victoria Hospital, improving care for patients across our city.
Events like the Khalsa Aid Manitoba Society Walk remind us that when we work together with compassion and purpose, we can strengthen not only our healthcare system but also the bonds that make our community so special.
I look forward to seeing this incredible event continue to grow in the years ahead
